I recently completed my PhD in Microbial Ecology at the
University of Georgia Department of Marine Sciences
.

I am interested in microbial ecology and biogeochemistry, bacterial diversity, and community structure in natural environments. My PhD research involved exploring the functional diversity of bacteria in marine environments through the direct retrieval and analysis of microbial gene transcripts (mRNA). By identifying factors involved the activity and diversity of bacteria, it may be possible to better understand how bacterial communities, and consequently, biogeochemical cycles will respond to global change.
